Most of the haze is gone after yesterday's thick smoke that blanketed the Mt. Hood area. Today, just a thin haze in the air. Here is today's update for September 5th on the size of the fire, the closed trails and forest service roads, campgrounds, and other pertinent information you may need to know.
It's a hazy day near Mt. Hood today with the Dollar Fire clouding up our skies on this Labor Day weekend. This fire originated from the North side from a lightening strike near Cooper Spur. Yesterday it crept up to Cathedral Ridge with strong East winds whipping down our canyons. Limbs were dropping and power was knocked out for some local residents. Friends up LoLo Pass Road had ash raining down on their home all afternoon.
Many campers and horse campers were told to leave our local campgrounds-McNeil and Riley Horse Camp, Lost Lake. The Pacific Crest Trail is closed too. Check details on camp areas that are closed.
