Looking for a great outing in the Cascade foothills? It’s that time of the year when a Christmas tree permit may be purchased for $5.00 at the Zigzag Ranger District at 70220 E. HWY 26, Zigzag, OR.   503-622-3191. Hours are Monday through Friday 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM (closed from Noon to 1:00 for lunch). Special Holiday Hours: Saturdays, December 1st through 15th and Sundays December 2nd through 16th From 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Stop at the Ranger Station for details on where you may cut and the maximum size.

Here are some interesting facts about Christmas trees.

Did you know that Oregon is the number one producer of Christmas trees in the United States. Nine million Christmas trees are harvested in Oregon. One of the largest producers of trees, McKenzie Farms, is located right here in Welches Oregon. Oregon has 775 Christmas tree growers and this industry adds 110 million in sales back into our economy.

A tree for $5.00 is one incredible bargain these days!

Wine and Arts Festival Is Not Happening

by Liz Warren

After nearly 15 plus years the Resort at the Mountain in Welches  is not having the Wine and Arts Festival this November. As a regular attendiee of this event I am sadly disappointed. I am hoping the new management comes up with events to replace this mountain favorite!
